The Communication page is the central resource for information on how a student’s progress in both academic achievement and habits of learning is recorded in compliance with standards and learning targets set in class. Here at CVU, we use a program called "JumpRope", which has all of our standards and learning targets uploaded before we begin a unit. Achievement and progress will be collected or observed through multiple low risk formative assessments and summative project based learning, and recorded between a 1 and 4 on the learning continuum. Students will understand beforehand how a learning target can be progressed throughout the semester, and a score is not final but continuously being assessed.
Student progress will be separated into two categories: achievement and habits of learning. A student’s grade within a unit will be based on their achievement and progress within the NASPE standards. Students will show evidence to support these scores. Feedback will be provided on a student's habits of learning but will have little or no impact on the final grade (for example: appropriate attire for class). This ensures a fair assessment of academic progress.
Every 4-8 weeks, the teacher will send home via email a communication with parents about progress reports. Students will be given printout in class that same week of home correspondence.
